Legendary master distiller Steve Nally has made over 100 million bottles of whiskey. He’s gone on to have a career that’s spanned close to 50 years. That legacy has earned him a place in the Bourbon Hall of Fame. Rightfully so. He’s now distilling for Bardstown Bourbon Company, making the distillery an obvious choice as one of our 10 finalists for the Craft Distillery of the Year Award. Steve makes world class bourbon. He’s taking the lessons learned as Master Distiller at Maker’s Mark over a decades-long stint and applying them to Bardstown — a relatively new state-of-the-art bourbon distillery pushing the boundaries through innovation.
Set on 100 acres of farmland in the heart of the Bourbon Capital of the World, Bardstown is cultivating a Napa Valley style experience on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. They’re a new blend of bourbon makers housed at its state-of-the-art $40 million distillery. Along with producing their own bourbon, they offer custom whiskey production on behalf of 24 different customers including the likes of Jefferson’s, High West, Belle Meade, Hirsch, Calumet, James E. Pepper, Cyrus Noble, and many others. It is the first destination to combine distilling, culinary and beverage expertise to create a modern, authentic bourbon experience. A modern, authentic bourbon experience in the most technically advanced distillery in the country? We’ll drink to that. Our first step to determine the Craft Distillery of the Year Award winner was to open up the competition to the public to nominate your favorite craft distillery. From there, an expert panel of judges narrowed the list down to 10 finalists based on these four categories: compelling story, impact on community, marketing presence and branding and packaging. Now we’re turning the competition over to you to determine the distillery you believe deserves to be named the 2021 RackHouse Whiskey Club Craft Distillery of the Year.
